Cleaning, Storage and Transport
Cleaning -
• Regularly clean the tensioning mechanism by blowing it out with compressed
air or cleaning it with a brush. Do not use any tools for cleaning.
• Keep the handles free of oil so that you can maintain a firm grip.
• Clean the equipment as required with a damp cloth and, if necessary, mild
washing up liquid.
• If you are not going to use the pruner for an extended period of time, remove
the chain oil from the tank. Briefly immerse the saw chain and the guide bar
into an oil bath and then wrap them in oil paper.
Storage (long term) -
In order to avoid deposits forming on the interior of the carburettor, follow
these instructions:
1. Carry out all of the maintenance work and drain the fuel out of the tank.
2. When the fuel has been drained, start the engine and allow it to run at
idling speed until it stops. This will clean the remainder of the fuel out of the
carburettor.
3. Leave the machine to cool (approx. 5 minutes).
4. Remove the spark plug.
5. Place a teaspoon full of 2-stroke engine oil into the combustion chamber. Pull
the recoil starter several times carefully to wet the internal components with
the oil. Fit the spark plug again.
6. Store the machine in a cold, dry place where it is out of the reach of ignition
sources and inflammable substances. Keep out of the reach of children.
Transport -
To transport the machine, empty the petrol tank as described in Cleaning
section above. Clean coarse dirt off the equipment with a brush or hand brush.
Before transportation or storage, all safety devices (knife edge blade cover, the
hedge trimmer blade cover and bar & chain cover must be fitted in order to
prevent injuries.
WARNING!
BEFORE CLEANING OR CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE IS OFF AND IS COOL.
DISCONNECT THE SPARK PLUG TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL STARTING.
