Installing the collector feet and flashing
No need to remove any shingles to install the flashing.
Base plate is first screwed into a roof rafter or block and
flashing is slided under the roof shingle covering the
installed base plate.
Tools Required:
- Cordless drill with #2 square drive bits
- Tape measure, stud finder, chalk line
1. Locate the rafters and snap horizontal and vertical lines
to mark the installa-tion position for each upper mounting
foot. Blocks, installed in the attic, may have to be posi-
tioned between the rafters to make sure the base plate has
a structural member to screw into.
2. Install the base plate with the square drive screws. Mark
the screw locations and
apply polyurethane sealant at
the penetrations.
The baseplate must be securely at-
tached atop the roof and into the roofs structural member.
3. Install flashing by sliding it into place under then next
row of shingles. cover base plate with the flashing pocket .
4. Install the collector foot onto the flashing using
neoprene-bonded washer and stainless locking nut.

The bracket is to be fastened
to the base plate through the
hole closest to the vertical.
