4.2 Setting of the nominal temperature value
When leaving the factory, the valve is preset to
a temperature of 57 °C. If the installation is
operated in accordance with W551, the basic
setting does not require a modification. The
temperature setting can be modified by turning
the handwheel until the required temperature is
in line with the marking on the body.

Setting of residual

4.1 Thermal control and hydronic balancing
The valve is preset at works to a nominal
temperature value of 57°C and a residual
volume flow of kv=0.1 (= presetting 6) for DN15
or of kv=0.5 (= presetting 6) for DN 20. With this
basic setting, the value meets the requirements
of the DVGW work sheet W554 or the
recommendations according to W551.
Thermal control
Having reached a preset temperature (e.g.
57 °C), the valve limits the volume flow to a
residual volume which must be calculated
according to the DVGW sheet and be set at the
valve.
The valve supports thermal disinfection.
Approximately
6 °C above the set temperature, the volume
flow rises again and is again limited to the
residual volume flow approximately 16 °C
above the set temperature.
The reduction to the residual volume flow
ensures that, due to the restored hydronic
balance, the succeeding plant components are
also supplied with a disinfection volume flow.
The valve thus guarantees an optimum thermal
disinfection of the circulation system. Once the
disinfection change has been completed, the
valve returns to its starting position.
Hydronic balancing
For a hydronic balancing of the risers in a
potable water circulation system, the residual
volume flow which shall be reached at a set
temperature may also be set at the valve.
This setting is irrespective of the set
temperature and 6 different settings are
available. The kv values relating to the sizes
and their corresponding presetting are listed
under point 5 (“Technical data”).
4.3 Setting of the residual volume flow
The residual volume flow can be modified by
using the handwheel for temperature setting. If
the residual volume flow shall be modified,
keep hold of the temperature ring and pull the
handwheel upwards until stop (approx.
3 mm). Now turn the lifted handwheel clock-
wise to the required presetting value.
The chosen presetting value must be in line
with the raised black triangular arrow on the
temperature ring.
