10.3 Sizes 52, 53, 55, 56, 57 Meter Body Disassembly and Inspection
CAUTION: If the meter is of externally powered type, be sure to turn off power to the
register before you disassemble.

Take off all hex bolts (107), using wrench.

Remove the rear cover to gain access to the end
plate (211).

Using cross point screwdriver, remove all four
bolts (213) securing the end plate in place. Then,
installing two of them (213), screw in slowly and
alternately to force the end plate to unseat from
the meter body.
CAUTION:
When you unseat the end plate,
screw in the two bolts one after the other by the same
amount each time so that the end plate comes off
uniformly without being slanted.
CAUTION
(1) Scored surfaces, high spots by im-
pressions should be reconditioned flat
with an oil stone, etc.
(2) If the areas which have been forcibly in
contact with end plate lifting bolts look
swollen by distortion,recondition flat with
an oil stone, etc.

With the end plate removed, the measuring
chamber with Oval rotors (201) and other
components are now accessible.

Remove Oval rotors (201) and rotor shafts, in this
order, from the measuring chamber and inspect
them for condition.
(The rotor shafts should be drawn out straight.)
(a) Make sure to see if the Oval rotors are jammed
with foreign matter.
(b) Check to see if the rotors, shafts and other
members are worn.
(c) Inspect if the measuring chamber and inner
wall of the front cover have any sign of
scratches or other damage.
Upon completion of these inspections, clean the
Oval rotors, rotor shafts, measuring chamber and
front cover with clean water or suitable solvent
thoroughly.
