5 Handling
INFORMATION
►
The daily duration of use and period of application are generally determined by the physi­
cian.
►
The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by qualified personnel
according to the instructions of the treating physician.
► Consult a physician if any exceptional changes are noted (such as worsening of the com­
plaint).
5.1 Size selection
1) Measure the circumference of the thigh 15 cm above the centre of the patella.
2) Measure the circumference of the lower leg 15 cm below the centre of the patella.
3) Determine the size of the orthosis (see size chart).
5.2 Adaptation
The initial fitting must be carried out by trained, qualified personnel.
Adapting the splints
The lateral and posterior aluminium splints are removable and individually adaptable to the
desired flexion angle.
1) Remove the splint from the pocket of the orthosis.
2) Shape the splint by hand.
3) Slide the adapted splint into the pocket.
4) Put the orthosis on the patient for trial fitting.
5) Repeat the steps until the desired result is obtained.
5.3 Application

Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to improper or excess­
ively tight application
