11.1. Sulphur hexafluoride SF

The
cpg
.0 cubicles are designed as a hermetically sealed
pressure system containing sulphur hexafluoride (SF
6
).
SF
6
gas contained in the
cgp
.0 cubicles complies with
quality requirements stated in standard IEC 60376.
SF
6
is included in the Kyoto Protocol list of greenhouse
gases. SF6 has a GWP (
Global Warming Potential
) of 22 200
(TAR, IPCC 2001).
At the end of the product’s life, the SF
6
contained in it
must be recovered for processing and recycling, to prevent
it being released into the atmosphere. Extracting and
handling of SF
6
must be carried out by qualified personnel,
using a sealtight piercing system.
For the use and handling of the SF
6
, the indications listed in
IEC 62271-4 must be followed.
11.2. Recyclability
The management and treatment of all other materials must
be carried out in accordance with current legislation of the
installation country.
The materials that make up the cubicle (bases and front, gas
tank, vacuum interrupter, busbar disconnector/grounding
disconnector and driving mechanisms) can be recycled. For

The bushings contain copper components which are
difficult to separate from the resin. Therefore, these are
treated as inert industrial waste together with the plastics.
