Bluetooth is a wireless connection method supported by many devices to
allow a similar setup between different kinds of devices including braille
displays. In Orbit Reader's default configuration, when the user turns on the
device, it is ready to pair or to connect via Bluetooth, if it has already been
paired with a host.
If the Orbit Reader is already connected with the USB cable that came with
the unit, Orbit Reader uses the connection to the host as the braille
interface. This connection also charges the battery and provides a file
transfer mechanism.
If the device is paired with a Bluetooth host, and that host is running access
software connected to the Orbit Reader, it switches from the USB connection
(if one existed) and makes the Bluetooth interface active.
If there is no access software requesting services via the Bluetooth or USB
connection, or the user switches to Stand Alone mode, Orbit Reader returns
to the last location in Stand Alone mode.
The Orbit Reader has a low-power standby or sleep mode that activates after
10 minutes of no activity. When connected by Bluetooth, Orbit Reader goes
into standby mode after 10 minutes and continues to try to reconnect for 1
