– greasy dust coatings on the mechanical and electrical
elements and the casing of the appliance, which could result
in electrical contact failure or even complete breakdown, and
could also damage the plastic and rubber elements.
The effects of direct sunlight on the appliance can include:
– accelerated deterioration of the appliance casing and its
plastic and rubber components, damage to strength and other
structural features. The appliance’s surface may become
porous and fragile, which may result in a safety risk.
Storing the appliance in cold or frosty environment may cause:
– damage to the plastic and rubber components; if they become
fragile, this may result in a safety risk,
– oxidation resulting from condensation, and corrosion of the
metal components.
Direct and indirect heat (e.g. being too close to an oven or
a heating appliance) can cause:
– damage, deformation, softening or melting of plastic
or rubber parts and casing elements, or deterioration of
electrical insulation.
Following the operating instructions and avoiding any of the
conditions listed above will help you increase the lifespan of the
appliance. The manufacturer is not responsible if the appliance
is stored inappropriately or contrary to these instructions. You
are recommended to have the appliance serviced regularly
by an authorised engineer to keep it working for as long as
possible.
MAIN COMPONENTS
1. Glass weighing surface
2. On/off and reset button (ON/OFF-TARE)
3. Unit selection button (UNIT)
4. LCD display
5. Battery holder
POWER SUPPLY
Power is provided by one CR-2032 3V battery.
Notes
• The appliance can be energized only by batteries. Neither
a mains connection, supply adapter nor supply accumulator
can be used for its power supply.
• Please use only batteries as specified in the instruction
manual. Other batteries (other size or shape) cannot be
inserted in the appliance and it may become inoperable or
damaged when used with batteries supplying a different
voltage.
Battery replacement
The battery must be replaced when the low-battery warning
appears on the display.
Replace the batteries by following these instructions.
Remove the cover of the battery holder.
Remove the dead battery and insert a new one, making sure
the polarity (+/-) of the battery matches the markings on the
appliance. Please take care when doing this; the warranty
doesn’t cover damage caused by replacing the battery
incorrectly.
Replace the battery cover.
Never dispose of the replaced batteries in the household
waste, because they will endanger the environment! Please
use a dedicated waste container provided for this purpose or
a collecting station for disposing of used batteries!
Never throw the batteries in the fire, because they can explode.
USING OF APPLIANCE:
Before use
Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials.
Examine the device to make sure it’s complete and has not
suffered any damage. You should only use the device if all
parts are present and undamaged.
Some new devices may have a protective film over the battery
cover. Remove any protective film, open the battery cover
and insert a new battery by following the instructions in the
‘Battery replacement’ section of this guide.
Use and operational modes of kitchen scales
The device can display the weight of objects on the weighing
plate – up to a maximum of 5 kg (in Imperial units up to 11
lbs.) - in four measuring units on the LCD display:
• in grams (gs) • kilograms (kgs)
• in ounces (ozs) • pounds (lbs)
The measuring unit required can be set by the measuring unit
selection button.
Before use, place the kitchen scales on a horizontal, at area of
a table or workplace.
Do not leave anything under the scales which might cause
the support legs to topple or be unevenly balanced, or block
the bottom plate of the scales (e.g. napkin), as this can affect
weighing accuracy. Ensure there is enough space around the
scales covers to prevent contact with walls, furniture or any
other object that can cause false measurements.
Switch the appliance on by touching the ON/OFF button.
The appliance will carry out a quick self-test; each part of the
display is checked during this test.
When the self-test has finished and the display has returned
to normal, place the item you’re weighing onto the glass
surface. Make sure the item isn’t touching anything else, such
as a nearby wall or other surface, because this will affect the
measurement. The weight will be shown on the LCD display
using the units you’ve selected previously.
• When using the device, remember that kitchen scales were
designed for precise weighing of small items, and must
not be overloaded; try to estimate the weight of the article
to prevent overloading. For larger weights, try to divide
the load into smaller units before weighing. Kitchen scales
