Set Up and Operation of the 9482D
Operation of the 9482DT and 9482DR cards consists of:
 Setting the dipswitch on the Receiver and Transmitter cards for the data port mode per the application
requirements, if required
 Making the proper connections for the data signals
 Connecting accessory cards to the high-speed port as required
 Connecting the fiber

There are two serial duplex data ports on the 9482DT and DR. The connections for each of these ports are
accessed via the RJ45 8-pin connector. One of the two data ports is always RS232 and the other port may be
programmed via dipswitch S1 for RS232, RS422, RS485, Manchester, or Bi-Phase operation. Figure 3 and
Table 1 below show how the dipswitch is configured for the user-programmable data port. Additional figures
show how the electrical connections are made for the data ports. The set up switch is identical on the
transmitter and receiver.
