Transmitting an Individual Call
The Individual call function allows you to transmit a DSC signal to a
specific ship or a Coast station.
Individual Call
1. Press [MENU] to enter the DSC menu.
2. Press [▲] or [▼] to select “INDIVIDUAL”, then press [ENT].
3. Press [▲] or [▼] to select a desired pre-programmed Individual
address or “MANUAL INPUT”, then press [ENT].
The ID code for the individual call should be set in advance.
When “MANUAL INPUT” is selected, press [▲] or [▼] to set
the 9-digit MMSI ID code for the individual you wish to call.
While manual inputting, press [CH/WX] or [16] to move the
cursor forward or backward. Press [CLR] to cancel and exit
the setting.
4. Press [▲] or [▼] to select a desired communication channel, then
press [ENT].
Communication channels are already preset into the
transceiver in preferred order.
After pressing [ENT], Channel 70 is automatically selected and
“READY” appears in the channel comment display.
5. Press [ENT] to transmit the Individual call. If Channel 70 is busy,
the transceiver stands by until the channel becomes clear.
7. When the acknowledgement is received, beeps sound, “DSC”
appears and “RCV ABLE ACK” or “RCV UNABLE ACK” scrolls in
the channel comment display with beeps.
6. Stands by on the operated channel until an cacknowledgement call
is received, “WAITING FOR ACK” scrolls in the channel comment
display.
8. When “Able to comply” is received, press and hold [PTT] to
communicate with the responding ship.
