“D. In Unlock” appears on the display when you try to dub from an external digital component.
• Connect the digital audio cable correctly.
The recording level of the analog input is low.
• Adjust the recording level. (See page 38.)
Cannot perform CD dubbing.
CD Dub Fail appears on the display. (See page 67.)
• The MD recorder’s mechanism is still moving. Wait a while, then retry CD dubbing.
• You cannot perform CD dubbing if the CD section is in Random Play mode.
You cannot perform double-speed CD dubbing.
• If the CD player is in Repeat, Memory, or Random Play mode, double-speed CD dubbing is disabled. Also, you
cannot use double-speed CD dubbing to record from the same CD within 74 minutes.
Sound skips during double-speed CD dubbing.
• Double-speed CD dubbing performance is easily affected by disc condition, such as dirt on the disc. If you
experience any skips or noise, record using the standard CD dubbing function.
Cannot perform Synchro recording.
• You cannot start Synchro recording while “MD Reading” appears on the display. Wait a while, then try again.
Cannot name a disc or tracks.
• Use a recordable MD and cancel the record protection on the disc.
• You cannot name a disc or tracks in Memory, Random, 1GR, or 1TR Play mode.
Cannot edit the MD.
• Use a recordable MD and cancel the record protection on the disc.
• You cannot edit tracks in Memory, Random, 1GR, or 1TR Play mode. (See page 43.)
• You cannot combine a digital track and an analog track. (See page 55.)
• You cannot combine tracks recorded in different Recording modes (such as LP2 and LP4). (See page 55.)
Power went out after recording.
• If the power is down or if you disconnect the power cord accidentally while the TOC indicator is lit or flashing,
the data recorded prior to loss of power will be erased.
It takes a long time until playback starts.
• It may take time for the FR-X7A to load and read a CD that contains many tracks.

Onkyo is not responsible for damages (such as CD rental fees) due to unsuccessful recordings caused by
unit’s malfunction.
Before you record important data, make sure that the material will be recorded correctly.
This product uses a microcomputer to perform various advanced functions. However, noise, radio interfer-
ence, or static electricity could occasionally cause the unit to malfunction. In this case, unplug the power
cable from the AC outlet, then plug it in again in five seconds.
