Replace the battery
with a new one or
connect the battery
connectors correctly.

BASIC error
generated.
Check the contents of words n + 7 allocated in
the IR/CIO Area in the CPU Unit using a PC pe-
ripheral device (such as Programming Console).

The BASIC program
memory of the ASCII
Unit is damaged.
5-V power is not
supplied to the
ASCII Unit or the
MPU in the ASCII
Unit is out of control.
Toggle the START/
STOP switch from
STOP to START to
STOP to initialize the
memory.
If the program is
backed up in flash
ROM, execute the
ROMLOAD command
or set so that the flash
memory is automati-
cally read at startup.
The BASIC program
will be sent to the user
memory.
Check the power
supply or restart the
Unit.
Correct the DM set-
tings and restart
the Unit.
If the RUN indicator
and all the ERR indi-
cators are still ON,
replace the Unit.
BASIC error
System error
Communications port error
Correct the BASIC
program and perform
processing according
to the error code.
or
Check that the allo-
cated words in the DM
Setup Area are cor-
rect.
Restart the Unit.
If the ERR indi-
cator is still ON,
replace the Unit.
Check the communica-
tions conditions.
Examples:
Are the communications
parameters of the exter-
nal device the same as
those of the CPU Unit?
Is there an applications
problem caused by the
relationship of the BASIC
processing speed and the
communications proces-
sing?
Is noise causing prob-
lems in the communica-
tions cables?
Perform processing ac-
cording to the error code.
ERR indicator (red)
Check the allocated
DM settings on the
CPU side.
DM settings are in-
correct
If the RUN indica-
tor is still ON, fol-
low the procedure
used when the pro-
gram memory is
damaged.

The BASIC program
memory of the ASCII
Unit is damaged.
If the auto-boot set-
ting (automatically
reads user program in
flash ROM at startup)
is set to 1 (DM bits 8
to 15 are set to 5
Hex), change the set-
ting to 0 (not automat-
ically read).
