Recording movies in movie mode (

When the mode dial is rotated to

, movies can be recorded by pressing the shutter
button.
The effects available in

, and

modes can be applied to movies (P. 147).
You can also use movie effects such as after-images or zooming in on an area of the
image during recording.
• A beep does not sound when the camera focuses in movie mode.
Adding effects to a movie (Movie Effect)
You must fi rst select [Movie Effect] on the screen that can be displayed by selecting the
Video Menu > [

Tap the on-screen icon of the effect you wish to use.
• Tap the display to add effects during shooting.
• Effects can be added by tapping the display before
starting recording.
W
Art Fade
Films with the selected picture mode effect. The fade
effect is applied to the transition between scenes.
M
Old Film
Randomly applies damage and dust-like noise similar to
old movies.
U
Multi Echo
Applies an after-image effect. After-images will appear
behind moving objects.
T
One Shot Echo
Applies an after-image for a short time after you tap the
icon. The after-image will disappear automatically after a
while.
X
Movie Tele-converter
Zooms in on an area of the image without using the lens
zoom. The selected position of the image can be zoomed
in even while the camera is kept fi xed.

• The
INFO
button also controls the display of shooting information during movie
recording. Note, however, that pressing the
INFO
button during recording cancels all
movie effects except art fade and movie tele-converter.
