Closing a mailbox

Note:

If the message “Illegal Operation” is displayed during any of the
above processes, the mailbox selected contains one or more
messages and must be emptied before changes to the mailbox can
be made.

Polling transmission/reception

Polling is a process in which documents are loaded into a machine, and
the machine is then set to wait for a call from a remote location before
faxing. If the local machine is set to hold data in memory for transmission
to a remote machine when contacted, the procedure is called 

polling trans-

mission

. Similarly, if the machine calls a remote machine and receives a

fax from it, the procedure is called 

polling reception

.

Bulletin polling (box)

This feature enables remote machines to contact this machine and poll
data from specified personal mailboxes until all the documents stored
have been retrieved. Before bulletin polling can be conducted, personal
mailboxes must be opened for storage of the documents to be scanned.
