Letting OCCO control ISO Settings in Tv mode (flash used to expose)
When shooting in Tv mode with Flash as the primary light
source, OCCO should be set control the ISO settings
directly. This is because allowing DSLR control the ISO will
result in over-exposure, since DSLR does not take the flash
into account when doing its internal light metering. OCCO
allows you specify the ISO such that it gradually increases
as the subjects get farther away. You can control what
those distances are, and what ISO setting to start from and
max out at. This lets help produce a properly exposed
image at different distances.
You can also specify the Exposure Compensation
parameter, which is useful for fine adjustments to default
exposure, but in manual Tv mode, using ISO parameters is
advised, since camera’s Exposure Compensation may try
decreasing the shutter speed, or playing with aperture,
which may not produce the desired effect.
Note, when flash is used to expose, it is best to leave the
shutter speed at around 1/125 to avoid ghosting, over-
exposure and motion blur.
Default Settings
By default, OCCO’s Canon DSLR is set to be in Tv (Shutter Priority) mode. This is done using the
mechanical dial on the camera itself. Tv is a flexible option that will fit a variety of situations. We do not
recommend using any other setting, except when activating a green screen. In this case – M (Manual) is
pretty much a requirement.
