Fall protection:
When working at great heights there is a risk of fall-
ing. Appropriate protection measures should be
used.
Uncontrolled operation:
• When working in the operating range of the awn-
ing, the automatic control should be deactivated.
There is a risk of crushing and falling.
• In addition, attention should be paid to ensure
that the system cannot be accidentally manually
operated. To do this, interrupt the power supply,
e.g. deactivate fuses or separate the plug cou-
pling at the motor.
• For manual operation, the operating crank must
be removed and kept safely.
Test run:
• When the awning is extended for the first time
there should not be anyone in the area or under
the awning. The fixing materials and wall mounts
should be subjected to a visual inspection after
extending the awning for first time.
• For test runs, never use automatic controls or
switches whereby the awning is not within the
field of vision of the operator (risk of unintended
start-up). The use of a test cable to the motor
connection is recommended.
Usage when there is wind:
If the awning is assembled as per the regulations, it
satisfies the requirements of the wind resistance
class as specified in the technical data. The awning
should be used only in the wind speeds declared in
the wind resistance class.
Wind resistance class 1:
The awning may remain extended up to a maximum
of wind strength 4.
Definition according to Beaufort: moderate breeze,
moderate wind.
Wind moves twigs and thinner branches, lifts dust
and loose paper.
Speed 20-27 km/h = 5.5-7.4 m/s.
Wind resistance class 2:
The awning may remain extended up to a maximum
of wind strength 5.
Definition according to Beaufort: fresh breeze, fresh
wind.
Small broad-leafed trees begin to sway.
White crests form on the seas.
Speed 28-37 km/h = 7.5-10.4 m/s.
Wind resistance class 3:
The awning may remain extended up to a maximum
of wind strength 6.
Definition according to Beaufort: strong wind.
Heavy branches sway, umbrellas can be held only
with difficulty.
Telegraph lines whistle in the wind.
Speed 38-48 km/h = 10.5-13.4m/s.
Usage when there is rain:
If the inclination of the awning is less than 35% = 19°,
measured from the horizontal, then the awning
should not be extended in the rain. There is a risk of
water accumulating in the cloth of the awning, as a
result of which the awning may be damaged or fall
down.
Usage when there is snow and ice:
• The awning should not be extended when there
is a risk of snow or frost. There is a risk that the
awning may be damaged or fall.
• The automatic control must be deactivated in the
event of a risk of frost.
Leaves and foreign bodies:
Leaves and other materials on the awning cloth, in
the awning box and foreign bodies lying on the guide
rails should be removed immediately. There is a risk
that the awning may be damaged or fall.
Obstacles:
• There should not be any obstructions in the
extension area of the awning. There is a risk of
people being crushed.
• If the awning is installed at a height of less than
2.5 metres over accessible travel paths, the awn-
ing may only be operated via a switch within view
of the moving parts. Electrical controls, radio
drives with push button switches, push button
switches etc. are not permitted in this instance.
• The push button must be within sight of the drop
profile, but away from the moving parts, ideally at
a height of 1.3 metres (national regulations
regarding disabled persons should be observed).
• There is a crushing and shearing area between
the moving parts of the awning. Clothing or body
parts may be caught by these moving parts.
• Any additional loads on the awning caused by
attached objects or rope tensioning may lead to
damage and falling of the awning and are there-
fore not permitted.
