2. Q UICK
When you have become familiar wit h t he programming and
editing capabil ities of t he MATRI X-6R, you will be able to get
around t he different functions muc h faster. The QUICK mode
gives you even more speed, hence t he name.
When in QUICK mode, t he PARAMETER and VALUE modes of
PATCH EDIT are used at t he same time . The Keypad now
operates differently so t hat t he O t hroug h 9 buttons change t he
VALUE only and t he <
>
and <<
>>
buttons select t he
PARAMETER. You can see how t his feature adds even greater
flexibility and speed to editing and creating patc hes.
3. COMPARE
4.
VALUE
The COMPARE mode allows you to examine a patc h in its
original state before it was edited. If, for example, you have
edited a patc h and want to find out w hat t he original setting was
for any PARAMETER or VALUE, press t he COMPARE button
and it will appear on t he display. The COM PARE button LED will
lig ht to remind you t hat you are comparing.
You can also listen to t he original patc h because t he MATRIX-6R
will recall it from memory during t he COMPARE process. Playing
notes from t heMaster controller allows you to hear t he patch in
its original state. Switc hing to anot her mode in PATCH EDIT
(eit her PARAMETER, QUICK or VALUE) returns t he patc h to its
edited state. You may COM PARE a patc h as often as you like.
Please note t hat w hen you are in COMPARE mode, you cannot
use t he STORE button to program t he patch into memory.
This mode of operation allows you adjust t he output of t he
Parameter to determine how it will affect t he sound quality of the
patc h. There are t hree types of outputs, depending on t he
Parameter you're using:
Numerical
A numerical VALUE can take on various forms. For DC 01
"00 FRE QUENCY", c hanging t he number c hanges the
oscillator's tuning. The VALUE of O means t he lowest end
of t he tuning range and 63 t he hig hest. In t he case of VCF
I
VGA "24 RESONANCE" , c hanging t he Value c hanges t he
Resonance amount. The Value of 0 in t his case means "no
output" or t hat t he R ESONANCE parameter has been
effectively turned off.
For t he majority of Parameters t he numerical range is O to
+63, wit h t he exception of t he VCF/VCA "21 FRE QUENCY"
w hich goes from O to 1 27 and DC02 "1 2 DETUNE" w hic h
goes from-31 to +31 . The majority of Modulations
(Envelopes, LFOs, Velocity, Ramps, etc.) can also be
