3.5.2 Mounting The Modem
You’ll need the following equipment to mount of the Lancer 3W Modem:
•
Phillips
screwdriver
•
Wire
strippers/cutters
•
Multimeter
•
Tie wraps or zip ties
•
A drill for drilling mounting holes
1.
Drill
holes into the vehicle at the appropriate location (Refer to Section 3.3 Modem
Location on page 3-3) and install the modem using the provided mounting
hardware.
2.
Mount
the Lancer 3W modem using the enclosed mounting screws or optional
mounts if available.
3.5.3 Connecting The Cables
Use the following procedure to connect cables:
1.
Disconnect
the battery
.
2.
Wire
the enclosed power cable to the vehicle
power source.
3.
Reconnect
the battery.
4.
Check
the voltages in the power cable with
the car ignition on. You should measure
approximately 13.6 V on the Power and
Ignition lines relative to the Ground line.
5.
Connect
the antenna's TNC connector to the modem's antenna connector.
Warning
You must connect the antenna to the modem before you connect the
power cable to the modem. Otherwise, the modem will be damaged.
6.
Plug
the power cable into the Lancer 3W modem.
7.
Connect
the serial cable from the Lancer 3W modem to the computer.
8.
Use
the multimeter to make sure that voltages are within specifications.
