Graphical Expansion Module features
The IP Phone Graphical Expansion Module (GEM) 1100 Series terminals
provide the same functionality available on CICM when using the KEM with
the exception of moving features from main terminal display to the GEM,
for details see
“Key Expansion Module features” (page 8)
. For additional
GEM features, see the following:
•
18 soft-labeled keys and an LCD screen that displays two pages on the
GEM, for a total of 36 keys
•
access to the 22 feature keys on a CS2000/CS2100 line extension
module M522, which are spread over the two pages
•
supports two GEM on a single IP Phone terminal, providing up to 44
additional keys
•
auto hide functionality is not available for a GEM on the 1100 Series
terminal
•
auto scroll functionality is available on the 1120E and 1140E with
advanced GEM functionality turned off, auto scroll is not available on
the 1150E
Graphical Expansion Module configuration
Nortel IP Phone Graphical Expansion Module (GEM) must be provisioned
through both the CS2000/CS2100 and Element Manager (EM). The M522
line option on the CS2000/CS2100 must be assigned to its associated
terminal on the DMS prior to assigning features to keys on the GEM. The
M522 line option specifies if there are one or two GEM units and enables
provisioning of features on the additional keys. EM data controls the use
of any GEM connected to a terminal, such as, the Gateway uses EM
data information to support or block GEM usage. For example, if terminal
configuration or user profile specifies only one GEM unit, but there are two
GEM units attached to the terminal, the user can only utilize the first GEM,
the second GEM is blocked based on EM data.
The GEM display is very similar to the i24KEM unit. Icons and labels on
the GEM unit operate the same as on the i24KEM unit. A maximum of two
GEM units can be supported on a single terminal.
Advanced GEM functionality and optionality
By default, an IP Phone 1100 Series terminal with GEM attached will adopt
the advanced functionality where the feature keys located on the main
terminal’s second and third pages are relocated to the GEM. Advanced
GEM functionality can be enabled or disabled on a terminal or user basis.
