Meridian SL-100 M3900 Meridian Digital Telephones Reference Guide

Firmware download process overview

The M3900 firmware download process provides information regarding 
the capability to download new firmware versions to the M3900 series 
digital telephones. Firmware download provides a way for installed 
M3900 telephones to be updated to the appropriate firmware release 
level on the Meridian SL-100. The latest generally available firmware 
files are available at no charge on the Nortel Networks web site for 
Meridian SL-100 customers.

Firmware downloads use the flash download procedure that provides 
the capability to download a new firmware version to the M3900 series 
digital telephones. See 

“Flash download” on page 19

 and in the

Description Manual, NTP 555-4031-801. Nortel Networks Optivity 
Telephony Manager for Meridian SL-100 2.0 initiates all flash download 
commands. Nortel Networks Optivity Telephony Manager for Meridian 
SL-100 2.0 is a requirement for M3900 series digital telephones. 

Firmware files location

Use the Procedure 40 to download a firmware file from the Nortel 
Networks web site and place the downloaded file onto the Meridian 
SL-100 SLM drive.

Download a firmware file

Connect to the Nortel Networks web site: 
http: www.nortelnetworks.com.

Move your cursor to “Customer Support” on the left side of the page. Click on 
Customer Support.

Note: If you are not a registered user, you must register to be able to download the 
firmware files. Click on Register on the left side of the “Customer Support” page 
and register for access.

If you are a registered user, click on Login on the left side of the “Customer 
Support” page and log in with your user ID and password.

A “Security Alert” box appears asking if you want to proceed.

To be able to access the software, click on yes.

On the “Customer Support” page, move to the right side of the page to 
“Product Selection”. Under “Product Selection” click on View by a Product.

You will be taken to the “Product Select” page.

On the “Product Select” page, under “View by a Product” in the middle of the 
page, use the pull-down menu and scroll down to “Meridian M3900 (M3900) 
Series Digital Telephones” and select it. Then click on Save. 

You will be taken to the “Customer Support” page that shows both the 
“Documentation Listings” and the “Software Downloads”.
