5. Identify and mark the internal, filter input tube and output tube
before removing tubes from the filters. Make sure that only the
input tube is ever connected to the pi filter.
Carbon filter replacement:
1. Place the filter replacement tool on the nut that secures
the filter
(
FIGURE 10
)
.
2. Turn the tool counterclockwise to loosen. Remove filter
by unscrewing.
3. Replace with new filter, and tighten in place using
replacement tool.
IMPORTANT!
Do not overtighten.
4. Turn on tap and check for leaks. If leaks occur, remove and
retighten filter.
5. Let the water flow for three minutes to eliminate air pockets and to
clear the system of any carbon dust.
Ultrafiltration and pi unit replacement:
1. Unscrew the cap on the connector on the top of the UF filter and
pi water filter, and pull out the tube from the top of each unit.
Use the tool to loosen the connectors if necessary
(
FIGURE 11
)
.
2. Remove the UF filter and pi water filter. Replace with new units.
IMPORTANT!
Do not overtighten.
3. Insert the tubes.
IMPORTANT!
Be sure to connect each to the
correct unit. Tighten the connectors using the tool if necessary.
4. Turn on the tap and check for leaks.
5. Let the water flow for three minutes to eliminate air pockets and
to clear the system.
Troubleshooting
1. Diverter pin does not move easily, or does not return fully to the in (off) position after use.
Possible causes: (a)
pin needs lubrication, or
(b)
system is used in areas with hard water.
Solution to problem (a):
With the tap turned off, pull the diverter pin to its full out (on) position and apply a
small amount of petroleum jelly to the pin shaft. Work the pin in and out a few times. This should allow the pin
to move freely again.
If the pin has been bent, replace the diverter assembly. The pin cannot be straightened without damage.
Solution to problem (b):
The diverter valve may require occasional soaking to remove lime buildup. Use
ordinary vinegar only. Do not use any kind of solvent, as this may damage the diverter assembly.
Detach the diverter from the faucet, and immerse it in a small container of vinegar. Do not immerse the
plastic tubes, as this may cause discoloration. After a few hours of soaking, remove the diverter and rinse
it in water. Relubricate the diverter pin with petroleum jelly (as described above), and reattach the diverter
to the faucet.
