If the plastic tubing on the PiMag Water System is too long, you may wish to shorten it. The following steps
are only for shortening the tubes, if you decide this is necessary. If the length of the tubes is satisfactory, skip
this section and go to Step 10 below.
Each of the 2 plastic tubes fits over a metal tube connector on the valve. Each tube is held tight to the
connector by a textured metal collar
(
FIGURE 4
)
.
4. To shorten the tubes, first rotate each collar to loosen it.
5. Slide the collars up the tubes and pull the tubes off the diverter
valve connectors.
IMPORTANT!
One of the tubes has a molded ridge on its outer
surface. This is the tube that attaches to the input connector,
which is the upper connector on the diverter valve.
The tube without a ridge attaches to the output connector, the
lower connector on the valve.
6. To shorten the tubes, first make sure that the PiMag Water
System is positioned where you want it to remain. Then hold the
tubes against the diverter valve to see how long you want them
to be.
IMPORTANT!
If your sink has a swivel faucet, MAKE SURE
you allow enough extra length of tubing to permit the faucet to
move to the full extent of its travel.
7. When you have determined the correct length, take a knife
and carefully cut the tubes. Cut them straight across, not at an
angle
(
FIGURE 5
)
.
8. On the tube with a ridge on it (the tube to the input connector),
carefully trim off the ridge from the final inch of tubing. Hold the
knife blade flat against the tube and be careful not to pierce it.
9. Push the tubes back onto their connectors, all the way so that
the ends of the tubes are against the diverter unit. The ridged
tube goes on the upper connector, and the smooth tube on the
lower connector. Tighten the collars all the way to provide a
secure connection.
10. Use the tube ties to secure the tubes to the faucet.
Installing the Magna-Charger
IMPORTANT!
Install the Magna-Charger on the section of
plumbing pipe that supplies cold water to the faucet. The cold
water pipe is located underneath the sink. Be sure to attach it to
the cold water pipe only.
The Magna-Charger adjusts to fit a pipe size from 0.6 inch (1.52 cm) minimum diameter, to 1.2 inch
(3 cm) maximum diameter. For pipes smaller in diameter, rubber spacers are supplied to ensure a good fit.
11. Loosen the four screws, two on each side of the component
(
FIGURE 6
)
.
12. Clean the section of the pipe where the component is being installed.
13. Fit the component to the pipe. If necessary, use the rubber spacers. Tighten the screws.
