Step 27: Rock Wall Assembly
•
Firstly, cut out the bottom rail of the railing where the rock wall is to go, the same width as
the rock wall itself, approx. 720mm.
•
Then screw on the 35mmx32mm baton in its place, keeping the cut edge facing out of the
tower and flush to the edge of the decking. This is to ensure that when the rock wall is set
against it, the overall width complies with grip and grasp regulations.
•
The rock wall is typically made slightly longer than required to allow for a slope.
•
Place the rock wall against the bottom of the railing, flush to the top of the baton you just
screwed on.
•
Measure the amount you may have to take off the bottom of the rock wall.
•
Cut the bottom of the rock wall to ensure that it fits flush onto the top of the bottom
rail/baton.
•
Screw the rock wall into place using 2 x 60mm screw per board into the decking base,
cou
ntersinking the holes so the decking doesn’t crack.
•
Repeat for both sets of rock walls.
