When an analog Connection Type is set to Mic or Mic + Phantom two VU Meters are displayed,
with individual knobs to control the Gain for input channels 1 and 2 (see Figure 186).
When the Connection Type for Input 1 is Line , the VU meter displays the levels for the two
analog input channels, which are controlled by a single Gain knob. Also, the Pan slider is
replaced with a Balance control.
Other connection Type selections and sources display a single VU meter with four level graphs,
again controlled by a single Gain knob ((Figure 187). The four VU graphs show the audio levels
for channels 1-4.
VU Meters and dB FS
TriCaster’s VU meters are calibrated in dB FS , which stands for “dB Full Scale” (decibels relative
to full scale). Digital audio systems have a maximum peak level, which is 0dB on the dB FS scale.
This means that 0 dB FS is the maximum possible audio level, which can never be exceeded.
