mathematical algorithms.

to read through challenging motion conditions to deliver accurate saturation and

Technology
The NPB-40 is designed to use Nellcor brand
O
XI
M
AX
sensors containing
O
XI
M
AX
technology. These
O
XI
M
AX
sensors can be identified by the deep blue color of their
plug. All
O
XI
M
AX
-
compatible sensors contain a memory chip carrying information
about the
O
XI
M
AX
sensor which the NPB-40 needs for correct operation, including
the
O
XI
M
AX
sensor’s calibration data, model type, troubleshooting codes, and error
detection data. This unique oximetry architecture enables several new features
with the NPB-40.
When an
O
XI
M
AX
-
compatible sensor is connected to the NPB-40, the NPB-40 first
reads the information in the
O
XI
M
AX
sensor memory chip, checks it to make sure
that there are no errors, and then loads the data to begin monitoring. As the
NPB-40 reads the information, it flashes the
Data In-Sensor
icon. This process
takes a couple of seconds. Once the reading process is complete the NPB-40
begins monitoring.

sensor in calculating the patient’s SpO
2
.
