Portable Vacuum Unit
EN
NOTE!
There are important exceptions, see
. Oil mist can clog the filters.
In normal operation, without any electric or pneumatic
tools connected, the Portable Vacuum Unit is started
in mode I. If an electric or pneumatic tool is connected
to the Portable Vacuum Unit, the switch is normally
set in mode II.
In mode II, the Portable Vacuum Unit starts when the
connected tool is started and stops with a slight delay
when the tool is stopped. See
for further information.
4.1 Connecting and starting
The Portable Vacuum Unit may only be connected to
a grounded power socket with the voltage as stated
on the machine data plate, see
. Information
about maximum power consumption is also given.
NOTE!
The total power consumption may increase in
certain cases of operation with electric tools
connected.
4.2 Cleaning equipment
• CE500 is used for heavy-duty cleaning.
• CE450 is used for normal cleaning.
• CE370P is used for fine cleaning.
• CE370C is used for food industry cleaning.
4.3 Start/Stop, 1-phase unit
• 300E B has an electrical Start/Stop.
• 300E has elec pneumatic Start/Stop.
In most cases, electric tools can be connected to a
socket on the power unit for the automatic start/
stop functioning of the Portable Vacuum Unit. How-
ever, this does not apply to 110–120 V unit versions.
The minimum power consumption of connected tools
for auto-start is 60 W. Maximum permitted power is
stated on the decal located near the power point.
The connection of tools at a higher power could result
in electric overload. Pneumatic power tools can also
be connected for automatic start/stop functioning of
the Portable Vacuum Unit. The supply of compressed
air to the tool must then be connected via the power
unit. Connection via male 1/4" thread or female 1/8"
thread.
4.4 Transport and lifting
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
It is prohibited to be underneath the Portable
Vacuum Unit when lifting. Lifting the Portable
Vacuum Unit by the handle located on top of
the motor assembly is prohibited.
See Figures,
. The Portable Va-
cuum Unit can be transported vertically or horizont-
ally.
• In order not to spread any hazardous dust when
transporting, the suction hose is to be disconnected
from the inlet so that the flap valve closes. The hose
can be “short-circuited” by connecting the couplings
at either end of the hose.
• The collecting receptacle must be fitted when trans-
porting and lifting the Portable Vacuum Unit. The
eccentric catch holding the receptacle must be se-
cured using locking cotters, see
.
• Remove the cleaning equipment and other loose
parts from the Portable Vacuum Unit before lifting.
• Replace sack/bag in the collecting receptacle if it
contains large amounts of heavy material (>10 kg).
• The unit weighs 36 kg when empty. Attach lift-
ing straps to the frame handle to lift the unit. The
handle must be locked in its vertical position. At the
same time ensure that there is no damage to the
handle mountings on the frame.
5 Maintenance
before carrying out mainten-
ance.
Installation, repair and maintenance work is to be car-
ried out by qualified personnel using only original Ne-
derman spare parts. Contact your nearest authorized
distributor or Nederman for advice on technical ser-
vice.
NOTE!
The service intervals in this chapter are based
on the unit being professionally maintained.
5.1 Power unit
• Replace the fan motors in the power unit if they
are not working satisfactorily. The motors’ carbon
brushes are worn out after about 700 hours of op-
eration. Replacing the motors’ carbon brushes more
than once is not recommended. The motor collect-
or becomes worn and new brushes will wear very
quickly. Replace the entire motor instead. The mo-
tors are accessible after unscrewing the power unit.
5.2 Filter/Filter package
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
Use an approved breathing mask when chan-
ging the filters.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage
The Portable Vacuum Unit should never be op-
erated with a filter bag only, but should always
be equipped with another filter. Check regu-
larly that the filter is not defective.
