SSL
(Secure Socket Layer)

Internet protocol designed for executing secure data communication between a web server
and a web browser.

Subnet mask

Mask bit string to divide the IP address into a network address and a host number.
If multiple networks are connected via a router, you must show that they are different net-
works. This can be done by changing the subnet part of the subnet mask.

Super G3

High-speed facsimile transmission mode via the PSTN and adopted by the ITU-T. Using the
V.34 facsimile modem and the JBIG coding method, it is possible to send a ITU-T test chart
(similar to a typical one-page text letter) in under three seconds.

TCP/IP
(Transmission Control Protocol/
Internet Protocol)

A communication Protocol used in a network for communication between different hosts.

TIFF-F
(Tagged Image File Format-Class
F)

The image file format TIFF, provided by Aldus and Microsoft, is modified to be used in Internet
Fax.
This allows to assign an information tag to data and combine the pages into one data to per-
form communication by page.
To view the file, a special viewer or graphic software that supports TIFF-F format must be
used.

Viewer

Software to view data. Contents of a file can be viewed but not modified.
WWW browser is a type of viewer.
