Battery Replacement

A lithium battery in your computer maintains system configuration information. In
the event that the battery fails to maintain system configuration information, NEC
recommends that you replace the battery.

 There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the
manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.

Battery Disposal

Your CMOS lithium battery is not generally recyclable at the time of this publication.

The incineration, landfilling, or mixing of batteries with the municipal solid wasted
stream is prohited by law in most areas.

Return your battery to a federal or state-approved recycler.

This may be where you purchased the battery or a local seller of automotive batter-
ies. In the United States of America, call 1-800-225-PRBA if you need further dis-
posal information.

Contact your local waste management officials for other information regarding the
environmentally sound collection, recycling, and disposal of the batteries.
