6 fans are needed to enable redundancy for dual processor configuration or 24 x 2.5-inch or 12 x 3.5-inch single
processor configuration. If a fan fails or is missing, redundancy will be disabled. If the second fan fails or is
missing, the server will shut down through the normal process.
A high-performance fan is required for the configuration of 24 x 2.5 inch drive model or 12x 3.5 inch drive model.
In addition, it may required for the following installation.
Optional GPU Riser Card
The device supports the change of the revolving speed of fan. Until a temperature rises and the server needs to
be cooled down by accelerating the revolving speed of fan, the fan revolves at the minimum speed. The server
shuts down in the following situations relating to temperature.

In case a temperature at a cautious level is detected, iLO5 executes the shutdown of OS safely. In case a
temperature at a critical level is detected, iLO5 executes not a shutdown but a hard shutdown of OS.

With "Thermal Shutdown" function set to "Disabled" at "BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU)", in case a
temperature at a cautious level is detected, the shut down of OS is not executed and the operation
continues, but in case a temperature at a critical level is detected, a hard shutdown is executed.
Important If “Thermal Shutdown“ feature is set to “Disabled” in “BIOS/Platform
Configuration (RBSU),” Server Component may be damaged by a high
temperature event.
Tips
In case NEC ESMPRO ServerAgentService is installed, since a shut down due to
high temperature is executed by NEC ESMPRO ServerAgentService, you need to
set “Thermal Shutdown” to “Disabled.”
