Section 5: Connecting ac power
To connect ac power to the transmitter, perform the following steps:
1. Route the ac power cable from the ac disconnect switch to the transmitter, passing all
the conductors, as a group, through a ferrite toroid (Nautel Part # LP32, provided in
the ancillary kit). The preferred entry point is the top of the transmitter. An internal
cable duct is provided to guide the cable from the top of the transmitter to the ac input
terminals on the left-hand side (when viewed from the back) of the transmitter (see
Figure 3.6 on page 3-7 ).
2. Verify that the station reference ground is connected to the safety ground stud
assembly at the back of the cabinet (see Section 4, “Connecting the station reference
ground” on page 4-1 ) and the transformer ground stud is connected to transformer
ground wire mounted on the floor of the chassis (see Figure 3.5 on page 3-6 ).
3. Connect the ac line input to the
AC1
(Line 1),
AC2
(Line 2) and
AC3
(Line 3) input
terminals in the transmitter (see Figure 3.6 on page 3-7 ). Connect the ac ground to the
safety ground stud assembly at the back of the cabinet. Secure all wires in their
respective terminals.
DANGER: Ensure ac power is disconnected and locked out at the
source before proceeding.
WARNING: Ensure that wiring sizes are appropriate. ac wiring must be
installed by a qualified, locally-certified electrician.
