Operating the transmitter

Opening access panels
Procedure to gain access to the inside of the transmitter:
1. Turn off the safety interlock switch or the ac breaker at the ac power-entrance panel (see
"Guidelines (1): ac power entrance panel", on page 2-128
). Turn
SERVICE ENTRANCE KEY
(‘A’ key) counter clockwise and remove the key.
2. Insert the
SERVICE ENTRANCE KEY
(‘A’ key) into the antenna ground switch (see
"Guidelines
(2): antenna ground switch", on page 2-128
) lock labelled
SERVICE ENTRANCE KEY
and turn
the key clockwise.
3. Close the
ANTENNA GROUND SWITCH
(see
"Guidelines (2): antenna ground switch", on
page 2-128
) by pulling it down towards the top of the transmitter. Turn the
TRANSFER CASE
KEY
(‘B’ key) counter clockwise and remove the key.
4. Insert the
TRANSFER CASE KEY
(‘B’ key) into the transfer case (see
"Guidelines (3): transfer
case", on page 2-128
), and turn it clockwise. The six access lock keys (‘C’ keys) will be
released.
5. Remove an access lock key (‘C’ key) from the transfer case, and insert it into the appropriate
access lock on the rear doors or the filter panels behind the front doors. Turn the key
clockwise to unlock the access panel or rear door.
Applying ac power to the transmitter
Procedure to close the transmitter and apply ac power:
1. Close all filter panels and rear doors. To release the access lock key (‘C’ key) in each panel or
door, turn it counter clockwise and remove it from the lock.
2. Insert all six access lock keys (‘C’ keys) into the transfer case (see
"Guidelines (3): transfer
case", on page 2-128
),. Turn the
TRANSFER CASE KEY
(‘B’ key) counterclockwise and remove
it from the transfer case.
3. Insert the
TRANSFER CASE KEY
(‘B’ key) into the
ANTENNA GROUND SWITCH
(see
"Guidelines (2): antenna ground switch", on page 2-128
) lock labelled
TRANSFER CASE KEY
and turn the key clockwise. Open the
ANTENNA GROUND SWITCH
(2) by pushing it up
away from the top of the transmitter.
4. Turn the
SERVICE ENTRANCE KEY
(‘A’ key) counterclockwise and remove it from
ANTENNA
GROUND SWITCH
(see
"Guidelines (2): antenna ground switch", on page 2-128
) lock.
