The RF signal is not restored automatically when you disconnect
the Diagnosis lead. The receiver must first be switched on again.

!

Note: note the correct sequence when switching OFF

First switch the receiver OFF, then the transmitter OFF, then dis-
connect the Diagnosis lead.

During Diagnosis operations the LED glows constantly. The
error counter does not operate during Diagnosis operations.

UP LEAD

# 8 5048

If the receiver is permanently installed in the model, and the
button and LED on the receiver are not accessible, the unit can
be controlled using the RX-SYNTH set-up lead which is avai-
lable as an optional accessory. Connect the lead to the socket
marked “B/D”, and install it in an easily accessible location on
the model. The RX-SYNTH set-up lead can be extended if
necessary using a standard UNI extension lead (e.g.

 # 8 5031

).

The RX-SYNTH set-up lead features a 3-pin connector marked
“PC”. This can be used to connect the receiver to a PC (

Î

 19.

).

!

Note

:

LED on the set-up cable does not light up

When you press the button on the RX-SYNTH set-up lead, the
LED on the set-up lead does not light up! The LED in the
receiver continues to work in the normal way if the button on the
RX-SYNTH set-up lead is pressed.

ANAGER

All MULTIPLEX RX-SYNTH IPD receivers incorporate micro-
controllers (FLASH technology). This means that it is possible to
connect the receiver to a PC or notebook using the PC
connecting lead (

# 8 5149

USB,

 # 8 5150

serial).

You can download the RX-SYNTH DataManager PC program
from the MULTIPLEX website (www.multiplex-rc.de). This pro-
gram opens up more possible functions for the RX-SYNTH re-
ceiver:

x

Expanded receiver options, such as
Freely variable HOLD and FAIL-SAFE time, activate and
adjust HOLD / FAIL-SAFE channel by channel, set RF
channel manually, …

x

Software update

x

Scanner function
The channels in use on the corresponding frequency band
are displayed in graphic form. With alarm and logbook
function

x

Read out error counter / memory
The error count for signal interference errors, field strength
errors and low voltage errors can be read out separately

20.

AUTOMATIC SERVO CHANNEL

COUNT DETECT

During the first 4 seconds after switching on (

Î

10.

) the receiver

detects the number of servo channels transmitted by the
transmitter (e.g. PPM 5, PPM 7, also HRS-2 / HRS-3 with
MULTIPLEX PROFI CAR systems) and stores this data. The
number of servo channels received from the transmitter is a
criterion required by the IPD filter in order to detect the
transmission errors when the system is operating.

Every time the receiver is switched on, it checks the servo
channel count  and compares it to the stored value. If the two are
not the same, the receiver remains inactive.

LED Code 1

LED ON

!

Note: every time you change the number of servo

channels or the transmitter’s operating mode (or when you
use a different transmitter), the receiver must be switched
OFF, then ON again.
You will also need to re-set the FAIL-SAFE settings

(

Î

13.

)

.

The servo channel count or the transmitter operating mode are
changed on the MULTIPLEX ROYAL evo transmitter, for exam-
ple, by altering the servo assignment, e.g. PPM 6, 7, 8, 9 or 12.

21. I

NSTALLATION NOTES

x

Receivers contain components which are sensitive to vibra-
tion. You should therefore pack your receiver loosely in foam
or similar material to protect it from vibration - especially with
internal combustion motors

x

When installing the receiver, keep it as far as possible from
electric motors, petrol engine ignition systems and other
electronic components such as electric motor speed
controllers, flight batteries, etc. The receiver aerial should not
run immediately adjacent to these compo-nents

x

Keep high-current cables, e.g. those attached to the speed
controller, motor and flight battery, as short as possible

x

Electric motors must be effectively suppressed (e.g. using
our suppressor set, # 8 5020). This does not apply to brush-
less motors

x

In many cases, receiver interference caused by speed con-
trollers can be reduced by fitting a ferrite ring (e.g.

# 8 5035

);

the receiver lead attached to the controller should be looped
six or seven times through the ferrite ring as close to the
controller as possible

x

Do not alter the length of the aerial unless it is absolutely
unavoidable

If the aerial cannot be accommodated in accordance with the
information below, it can be cut down to a length of 350 mm.
In this case it is important to carry out a range check before
running the model (

Î

22.

)

x

Route the aerial out of the model and extend it in as straight
a line as possible. Do not leave it coiled up

x

Do not deploy the receiver aerial parallel to servo leads,
high-current cables or electrically conductive components
(e.g. pushrods)

x

Do not deploy the aerial inside or over model components
which are skinned or reinforced with conductive materials
(e.g. carbon fibre, metallic paints etc.), as they have a
shielding effect

22. C

ARRYING OUT A

R

ANGE

C

HECK

It is very important to carry out regular range checks to ensure
that the radio control system works reliably. These checks also
allow you to detect problems and sources of interference in good
time. This applies in particular when:

x

You are using new or altered components, or you have
changed the arrangement of components in the model

x

You are using radio control system components which were
involved in a previous hard landing or crash

x

Irregularities or problems have arisen during previous flights

Important:

x

Always carry out the range check with the help of a friend
who can hold and watch the model (vehicles and boats on
their running surface)

x

For a range check install the telescopic transmitter aerial but
leave it completely collapsed. Don’t use a helical stub aerial
