OPERATION
Fig. 6
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
•
To improve performance and maximize the life of the line blades,
operate the unit at the recommended speed when performing
particular tasks:
•
Trimming
- Operate the unit at higher speeds.
•
Decorative Trimming
(against fences or other hard objects) -
Operate the unit at lower speeds.
•
Edging
- Operate the unit at lower speeds.
•
For most operations, rest the glider on the ground and cut from
side to side.
•
To direct clippings away from the operator, tilt the cutting head
slightly down to the right; cut from left to right whenever possible.
•
The height of the glider is not adjustable. To lower the cutting
height, tilt the glider to the side. To increase the cutting height,
lift the glider off the ground.
•
Cut tall grass from the top down by lowering the cutting head
onto the grass.
•
Do not trim wet grass or weeds.
•
Frequently inspect the glider for vegetation wrapped around the
shaft. Always stop the engine and remove any debris before
continuing the operation.
NOTE:
Some line blade breakage will occur from:
• Entanglement with foreign matter
• Normal line blade fatigue
• Attempting to cut thick vegetation
• Forcing the line blades into objects such as walls or fence posts
HOLDING THE UNIT
•
Stand in the operating position (Fig. 6). Stand up straight. Do not
bend over.
•
Keep feet apart and firmly planted.
•
Hold the shaft grip with the right hand. Keep the right arm
slightly bent.
•
Hold the handle with the left hand. Keep the left arm straight.
•
Hold the unit at waist level.
•
Position the cutting head a few inches above the ground.
WARNING:
Always wear eye, hearing, hand, foot and
body protection to reduce the risk of injury when operating
this unit.
WARNING:
To prevent serious personal injury, avoid arm
contact with the engine while operating the unit. The
engine may be extremely hot.
