2. Installation

2.1

Location of the FMK 9002

The following aspects must be taken into consideration before locating the FMK 9002:

-

Location close to the hazardous area and for personal monitoring applications at head level

-

Property of the target gas, e.g. lighter or heavier than air

-

Protection against sunlight, spray water, rain, and dust

-

Free access for maintenance personnel 

For narrow monitoring locations a sensor extension is available as an option.

2.2

Mounting the FMK 9002

As a standard accessory a wall mounting support is delivered with the FMK 9002. At the monitoring 
point the wall mounting support is fixed to the wall with four screws (M5), with the black locking knob on
top and facing the FMK 9002.

Finally, the FMK 9002 is affixed to the wall mounting support.

2.3

Connecting  the FMK 9002

Connect the two wires of the cable fixed to the FMK 9002 with the two-wire cable leading to the 
Central Controller FMS 8700 or FMS 8710. 

If the FMK 9002 is connected to other 4 ... 20 mA Central Control Systems, the limit values for the 
power supply (7.5  ... 15 V) must be observed. 

Pay attention to the correct polarity of the two-wire cable !

A watertight junction box is recommended for connection. The maximum length of the two-wire cable 
is subject to the technical specifications of the type of cable used as well as to the capacitance values
stated in the ex-proof certificate. 

The following applies in combination with the Central Controller FMS 8700  or 8710:

With the intrinsically safe version of the Central Controller FMS 8700  and FMS 8710, the maximum 
allowable capitance of 190 nF/km at the ex-separator must be observed. 

A type of cable with f.i. 200 nF/km, allows a maximum cable length of 0.95 km.
