Understanding Roaming
Recognizing Icons on the Display
Your phone’s display always lets you know when you’re off the
enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network and whether your phone
is operating in analog or digital mode. The following chart indicates
what you’ll see depending on where you’re using your phone.
Roaming on Digital Networks
When you’re roaming on digital networks, your call quality and
security will be similar to the quality you receive when making calls
on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network.
When roaming on digital networks, the “
R
” icon is displayed on the
status bar in standby mode, and the text
Digital Roam
appears on the
display screen.
Roaming on Analog Networks
When you roam on analog networks, you will experience a similar
quality provided by other analog carriers today. You can still make
and receive calls and access voicemail; you will experience a few
differences:
䢇
You are more likely to experience static, cross-talk, fade-out, and
dropped calls.

Tip:
Remember, when you are using your phone off the Sprint Nationwide
PCS Network, always dial numbers using 11 digits (1 + area code +
phone number).
Note:
You will pay a higher per-minute rate for roaming calls, unless your
PCS Service Plan includes roaming.
