This test is valid only in 4-wire operation.

The

initiating modem signals the remote modem to go to
Remote Analog Loopback.

The remote receive

leased line connects to the transmit leased line
through a buffer amplifier (Figure 3-4). The remote
modem transmitter goes off, but its receiver stays
connected and waits for the signal to end the test.
