8.1.2. Connecting the RS-485 converter

Preparing and Connecting the Cable to the Converter (Fig. 8.2):
• At the free end of the signal cable, the same wires of the twisted pair black/
brown and a red wire of the other twisted pair black/red, should be used.
Please refer to the Section “Preparing the Cable”, page 8.1.
• Cut away the outer insulation approx. 40mm from the end of the cable and
pull back the braided shield (as shown in Fig. 8.1).
• Cut the braided shield 10mm from the end (see Fig. 8.1)
• Cut away the insulation approx. 5mm from the end of these 3 wires.
• Connect the 3 wires to the terminals on the RS-485/RS-232 converter (as
shown in Fig. 8.2).
RS 485 B: brown wire from the black/brown twisted pair to terminal D(B).
RS 485 GND: red wire from the black/red twisted pair to Ground terminal.
RS 485 A: black wire from the black/brown twisted pair to terminal D(A).
Note:
If and only if a connection between the PC and BCom could not
be established, please swap the signal cables between D(A) and D(B).
• Cut off the unused wires (black wire).
