Installation
AVERTISSEMENT :
L’appareil n’est pas fourni avec un dispositif GFDI. Ce contrôleur de charge doit être

NOTE:
Conductors identified by the color combination green/yellow shall only be used for earthing
conductors.
Use a copper wire to connect the grounding terminal in the wiring box - and any other dead
metallic components - to earth ground.
Per NEC 690.45 and NEC Table 250.122, minimum size
for copper grounding wire are:

Do not connect the system negative conductor to this terminal. NEC requires the use of an
external ground fault protection device (GFPD). The TriStar MPPT 600V does not have internal
ground fault protection, but Morningstar Corporation offers an accessory GFPD-600V. The
system electrical negative should be bonded through a GFPD to earth ground at one (and only
one) location. The grounding point may be located in the solar circuit or the battery circuit.
WARNING: Risk of Fire
DO NOT bond system electrical negative to earth ground at the controller. Per NEC
requirements, system negative must be bonded to earth ground through a GFPD at only
one point.

Connecting the solar power source to the battery terminal will permanently damage the
TriStar MPPT 600V.

Connecting the solar power source or battery connection with reverse polarity will permanently
damage the TriStar MPPT 600V.

• Note that a battery must be connected to the TriStar MPPT 600V to start and operate the
controller. The controller will not operate only from solar input.

• Close the solar disconnect switch (DB or external). If the power source is active, the
TriStar MPPT 600V will begin charging. If an optional TriStar Meter is installed, charging
current will be reported along with charging state.
Power-Down
WARNING: Risk of Damage
ONLY disconnect the battery from the TriStar MPPT 600V AFTER the solar input has been disconnected.
Damage to the controller may result if the battery is removed while the TriStar MPPT 600V is charging.
