2.1 SECTION OVERVIEW

This section explains the level of risk and potential hazards associated with operating and maintaining Montag fertilizer 

application systems. The safety signs and their locations on the machine are also identified.

2.2 SAFETY 

This Owner’s Manual covers the Auto-Steer Cart produced by Montag Manufacturing. Before operating or servicing the 

cart, you must read, understand, and follow the instructions and safety warnings in this manual. Your cart may not be 

equipped with some of the optional equipment shown in the illustrations in this manual.

 

  

This is the safety symbol. It is used to alert you to potential physical injury hazards.  

 

  Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible injury or death.

The level of risk is indicated by the following signal words.

Indicates an imminently hazardous situation that, if not avoided, 

will 

result in death or serious 

injury.  This signal word is to be limited to the most extreme situations typically for machine 

components which, for functional purposes, cannot be guarded. 

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result in death or serious 

injury, and includes hazards that are exposed when guards are removed.  It may also be used to 

alert against unsafe practices.

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate 

injury.  It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.

Indicates a situation that could result in damage to the machine or other property.

2.2.1 KEEP ALL GUARDS IN PLACE

Remove guards only for adjustment and maintenance, install immediately when task is completed. Do not operate meter 

or fan with covers removed. Do not wear loose fitting clothing that can catch in rotating equipment.

Rotating fans and moving chains can sever digits.

Always keep all guards and shields in place.
