Handling pantograph tension wire breakage /
displacement
Step 1: Opening tension wire lock
- Unmount the studio light attached to light stud of
pantograph for safety.
- Open the lower track end stop of the sliding track
and unmount the pantograph.
- Place the pantograph firmly on ground in a way
that the light stud touched the ground and
pantograph stays in upright position as shown in
the adjoining diagram.
- Open the tension wire stop which is attached to
its upper end near tension wire stud as shown in
adjoining diagram.
Step 2: Unwinding / replacing the tension wire
NOTE:
- Once the tension wire lock is removed, unwind it
from around the spring case turn by turn, until the
entire tension wire is unwound and only its end is
attached with the spring case as shown here.
- In case the tension wire is broken it will have to
be replaced with a new wire. So here remove the
wire completely from the spring case by passing
the entire wire through the small hole on the side
of spring case.
- This wire, called 'Rear engine gear inner', is
easily available at any local automobile shop.
- As shown here take the new wire and pass it
through the small hole on the side of spring case
from where the earlier wire was taken out.
Care should be taken to make sure that
during this entire process the spring case should
not be turned into clockwise direction when the
case is being seen from the side of pantograph as
shown in the adjoining diagram.
Unwind entire wire turn by turn and
remove it by passing through spring case hole
Do not turn spring case in clockwise direction
when seen from this angle
