Reaching for an object or reclining in the wheelchair will affect the center of gravity and could cause the wheelchair to tip.
If you must shift your weight and center of gravity, do not tilt or lean your body beyond the perimeter of the
wheelchair cushion.
Do not exit the wheelchair from the front. As shown in Figure G1 .
Do not use your hands to reach for distant objects as this will cause a center of gravity to shift resulting in a tipping
situation. As shown in Figure G2 .
Do not attempt to pick up items from the floor while seated in your wheelchair as this will cause a tipping situation. As
shown in Figure G3 .
