During the startup from standby mode, the OSG also goes through a startup sequence. When
the low level switch in the oxidant storage tank is activated, the solenoid opens to allow water
flow for 60 seconds. Cell power is applied, the brine proportion pump comes on, and the OSG
should come into the operating window within five minutes.

If you have excessive stops and starts, the oxidant solution will be

diluted with start-up and shutdown flushes.

Brine Boost Pump Commissioning

The brine boost pump is electrically interlocked with the OSG. Once the OSG is in Run mode,
the pump will run. Once the pump is running, the back pressure valve must be set. Adjust
the pressure to a point that allows 3-5 PSI at the OSG. This is the optimum operating
pressure. Lower pressures cause strain on the OSG brine proportion pump and higher
pressure can cause bleed through of the brine proportion pump resulting in OSG faults.

Operation Controls

Modes of Operation

The modes of operation of the OSG are: Standby, Startup/Run, Self-Cleaning, Water Cycle,
Stop, Setup, Diagnostic, and Shutdown. Normal automated operation involves entering Run
mode to fill the oxidant tank. Once the oxidant tank is full, the OSG transition to Standby
mode. When the oxidant tank reaches a low level, the OSG will transition from Standby to
Startup to Run mode.

Standby Mode

The OSG is normally in Standby when the oxidant tank is full. The OSG can also be in
Standby if a Soft Fault condition is active and the Run/Stop switch is in the Run position.
If no Soft Faults are active, the OSG automatically transitions to Startup/Run mode
when the oxidant tank is low.

Startup/Run Mode

Startup mode verifies initial OSG condition, initiates and verifies cooling system function
and external Dilution Air system (if applicable) function. If functions are operational, the
cell is charged with water, power is applied, verified, and Run mode is entered.
