Figure 14 Plumbing Enclosure 

The feed water connection to the RIO Series OSG comes from the water softener.  The 
recommended feed water temperature should be between 55-80 °F (12-27 °C) for optimal 
efficiency. The allowable feed water temperature is between 40-95 °F (5-35 °C). The feed 
water connection is ¾” schedule 80 PVC.  The unit is equipped with a ¾” PVC male union 
half and a ¾” Y-strainer assembly.  Proper connection is accomplished with a ¾” PVC female 
union half mating to the male half (Figure 15). Before connecting the water supply to the 
OSG, flush water through the softener until the water is clean and clear. 

Brine Feed Connection 

The brine feed connection to the RIO Series OSG is ½” schedule 80 PVC. The OSG is 
equipped with a ½” PVC male union.  A Y-strainer assembly with a ½” PVC female union is 
provided to attach to the brine inlet.  Proper connection is accomplished with the ½” PVC 
female union half mating to the male half (Figure 15).
