Chapter 1: Introduction

DL451 Modular I/O

Operator Manual

The following chapter gives a brief overview of the XL8 Live Performance System and 
includes system interconnection details.  However, if you want to learn more about the 
XL8 Live Performance System, please go on to read the XL8 Control Centre operator 
manual (part number DOC02-XL8), which provides a full and comprehensive guide.

Intended readers

This manual is aimed at professionals, such as front of house (FOH) and monitor (MON) 
engineers who will be using this equipment in a live performance environment.  It is 
assumed that the reader has prior experience of using professional audio equipment 
and has, most likely, undergone training on this system.

However, if you have limited experience on using this type of equipment, perhaps it 
might be useful to read through the pertinent sections in the operator manuals for the 
XL8 Live Performance System before using this equipment.  This will provide you with 
valuable background information.

Document structure

This manual is divided into the following sections:

Introduction to the DL451 Modular I/O unit and provides information on this manual.

Brief description of the XL8 Live Performance System.

Chapter 5 - Getting Started

Brief instructions on connecting up, switching on and off, setting up, configuration 
and operation of the DL451 Modular I/O.  This section should provide enough 
information for a user to quickly become acquainted with its fundamental operation.

Chapter 6 - Main Menu

Gives details on how to access the main menu and set up the DL451 Modular I/O via 
the control panel.

•

Chapter 7 - Operation

A more in-depth guide on how to use the DL451 Modular I/O.  This chapter also 
contains routine servicing information to help the user maintain the DL451 Modular 
I/O in the best possible condition.

•

Appendices

These sections provide signal paths (functional block diagram) and technical 
specifications.
