Traps
A trap is an unsolicited, asynchronous event that the MGNT generates to indicate a
status change; e.g.: a trap is generated on the detection of a start of an alarm and an
end of an alarm.
Note
It is important to set the IP address of t he manager correctly in order to receive
the traps.
There are two types of trap:
•
Line 1 traps originating from Line 1 problems.
•
Line 2 traps originating from Line 2 problems.
These are further categorised as follows:
•
Critical: –Traffic affecting, demanding immediate attention.
•
Urgent: –Indicating that maintenance is required.
•
Non-urgent: – Warning, information, non traffic affecting origin DDM.
The binding information that accompanies a trap is for information only and should be
used to make the alarm polling more efficient.
The following table lists the possible traps originating from a MS430580M and their
contributing alarms.
