k) Bearing Pad Installation #2:
i) Brush assembly grease, petroleum jelly, into
each of the grooves in the side of the shaft vane.
ii) Take two (2) of the rectangular bronze (yellowish
color) wear pads and place them into each of the
two (2) grooves pressing the pads into the
grease and slightly moving back and forth in the
groove to promote sticking of the pads in the
grooves.
l) Head Installation #2:
i) Refer to Head #2 Installation Image
ii) Second Head to be prepared as identified in
Section 3.
iii) Second Head to have shaft seals, shoulder seal parts and the head seal installed and
brushed with assembly grease as identified in Section 5.

CRITICAL:
Verify all the seals (Head, Shaft seal(s) and Shoulder seals are in position.
iv) Slide second head onto
assembly:
(1) Rest second Head upright
on its mounting flange on
the work surface.
(2) Grasp the end of the shaft
and while supporting the
assembly slide the support
block out from under shaft
and away.
(3) While still grasping shaft
and supporting the
assembly with one hand,
use the other hand to
slowly slide the second
Head along the worksurface and guide the shaft into the journal hole in the head.
(4) Once the shaft is positively inserted into the second head remove the hand supporting
the shaft and complete sliding of the second head over the shaft and into the face of
the body.
(a) Note Some force may be required to get the shaft
to slide as it encounters resistance. Tapping the
side face of the free head without the shaft with a
soft mallet or dead blow lightly in an alternating
pattern is acceptable. Ensure shaft does NOT slip
in body.
v) Install two (2) bolts:
(1) Apply medium strength thread lock to threads and
install bolts opposing each other.
(2) Tighten until Snug only Do NOT torque down.
