17.
Fill the reservoir.
18.
Re-prime the system
19.
Check the system for leaks.
Check Valve Maintenance
The inlet check valve is located below the inlet tubing on the left of the Liquid end body. Its
purpose is to allow flow into the pump during the suction stroke and to prevent back flow into the
reservoir during the power stroke of the pump.
If the pump fails to generate pressure, and there is back flow into the reservoir, the check valve
should be cleaned. If the material clogging the check valve can be dissolved, use the appropriate
solvent referencing chemical compatibility with the piston seal.
1.
Attach the inlet syringe (1). Refer to drawing 801.00115 after filling with the appropriate
solvent.
2.
Remove the exit process (i.e., plumbing, tubing, etc.).
3.
With the piston in the fully extended position, pump/squeeze the fluid from the syringe
into the liquid end body until the fluid is seen exiting the liquid end body through the exit
port.
4.
Retract and extend the piston while applying manual pressure (i.e., pumping/squeezing)
the syringe. Stop retracting when the syringe bottoms out.
5.
Refill the syringe as needed.
6.
Repeat the above steps until product comes out of the liquid end body with no air bubbles.
If the particle is believed to have been dislodged from the check valve, this process can be
repeated with the exit plumbing attached (i.e., with the interaction chamber) outlet tube
and outlet syringe attached for the benefit of a full prime.
Cleaning/Repairing the Inlet Check Valve
See pump assembly drawing (801.00429) on the CD.
1.
Refer to steps in the Removing the Liquid End Body section if necessary; however, it is not
necessary to remove the liquid end body.
2.
Place the liquid end body in a vise. It is recommended that the vise have brass teeth. If
the vise is not made of brass, wrap the liquid end body in a rag or cloth before locking it in
the vise.
3.
Unscrew the 1/4" gland that attaches the inlet tube to the check valve.
4.
Unscrew the check valve assembly (18) by turning counterclockwise with the adjustable
wrench supplied.
