BOILER USE AND MAINTENANCE – FOR THE USER
3.1
GUIDANCE FOR THE USER
The boiler has been designed to operate only after it has been correctly installed
The user must guarantee the correct installation of the burner by suitably qualified and competent
personnel. The user must also have the first commissioning of the burner and associated
installation carried out by personnel from a MHS Boilers authorised service centre.
The electrical connections to the regulating and safety equipment of the boiler and associated
installation, such as thermostats, safety devices etc., which ensure the safe and proper operation
of the burner, are of great importance.
Any operation of the burner prior to the documented installation requirements, or which occur
after incomplete or incorrect attempts to carry out the documented installation requirements, is not
permitted.
Never open or dismantle any part of the boiler or associated installation.
Any operation of the boiler after partial disconnection or dismantling of the parts is also not
permitted.
WARNING: During normal operation many of the metal parts of the burners particularly those
nearest to the mounting burner flange will become hot. DO NOT touch these parts as severe burns
may result.
3.2
SWITCHING THE BOILER ON AND RUNNING
Open gas cock.
Press the ON/OFF button on the Burner Display Panel. After a few seconds the burner should start
to pre-purge, Ignition will commence and the fan will stay at ignition speed for 10 seconds. The
burner is pre-programmed with a step-control, so it will not reach maximum fan speed for at least
90 seconds after this. The burner should then run normally.
Adjust boiler thermostat dial to the required temperature, by using the buttons “MODE”, “-“ and
“+” as described in Control panel description, Section 1,7.
During normal operation, only:
-
check the presence of water in the boiler and installation (once a week at least)
-
operate the buttons on the BOILER DISPLAY PANEL, and if a lock out condition occurs, the
RESET button.
If the burner becomes repeatedly LOCKED OUT, do not continue to use the RESET button, but
instead consult suitably quaked and competent personnel to investigate the fault.
If necessary, repairs should be carried out by personnel from an MHS authorised service centre.
3.3
SWITCHING THE BOILER OFF
T0 switch out the burner, press the ON/OFF button on the Boiler Display Panel. The burner should
shut down immediately.
Turn OFF gas supply.
If required, an external timing device can be connected to the burner to switch it off remotely.
3.4
MAINTENANCE
A Qualified Gas Service Engineer on a regular time basis must carry out servicing and cleaning.
Service periods should not exceed 12 months. This will ensure boiler safety, efficiency and long
life.
