8 FILE SYSTEM
8.1 File Types
Files can be of 3 different types:
Software File
This type of file contains software to be programmed into the unit.
Configuration File
This type of file contains the information necessary to define all the configuration
settings of a unit (see section 3.2.3). A configuration file may be transferred to the
unit, where it can be used to replace all the unit settings, or from the unit, in order to
save a record of the current settings on an external device.
Report File
Service Activation Testing (see sections 10 and 14.2.5) generates test reports which
may be automatically or manually transferred from the unit to be saved as text files
on an external device.
8.2 File System
The unit includes a very limited file system that acts as a temporary storage area for
software and configuration files, and a means of accessing stored report files. The
file system is visible to external file transfer protocol clients (TFTP and SFTP). Its
content can also be managed from the user interface.
The directory/folder structure of the file system is fixed. Directories cannot be
created, removed or renamed. Furthermore, each directory can hold a maximum of
just one file. The directory structure is shown below, and as viewed from an SFTP
client.
\
root directory (cannot hold files)
\software
location for software file
\settings
location for configuration/settings file
\report1 ... \report8
locations for report files from each of the 8 test
channels (read-only)
