ing is that SLA’s are typically defined over a long
time period, for example 24 hours or 30 days. As an example, the latency may be
defined as 95% of all frames must be within 100mS over 24 hours, which means that
there could be 4320 latency violations before the SLA would be breached.
To overcome this problem, the unit has a short-term window-based monitoring
system which verifies the network performance against short term parameters such
that network problems such as excess latency can be discovered by the NOC,
before the customer complains.
